I "used" to have Diabetes

I'm Shanker Srivastava and I was diagnosed with diabetes a couple of years back. These were my readings when I was tested, Fasting Sugar - 330, which is really high and body weight ~105kg. I personally knew that my sedentary lifestyle, bad eating habits & heredity were the key reasons for my diabetes. I felt very lethargic, very tired & distant eye vision was also impacted. The 1st thing that came to my mind was to rush to an endocrinologist.

The doctor immediately put me on Insulin for 10 days, and after that to start with the medication. She advised me to be regular on medicine and to have a strict watch on my diet. It was a very difficult phase of my life as there was no direction or guidance on how to come out of this problem. I received mixed messages about diabetes from magazines, newspapers, friends, family, and yes, even health professionals. Everyone told different things to do, but no one was 100% sure.

Deep inside I used to think that there must be some way to come out of it. I was open and willing to try different options but scared of it and scared of failing too.

The community of people at Wellness Quotient came into my life as a blessing through one of our friends Akash & Shilpa. Today I’m delighted because my glucose levels are under control & I’m out of any kind of medication. My fasting sugar reading now is between 100-120. Because of the shared experiences and the combined knowledge of an entire community, I understood for the first time why I’m diabetic and what I could potential do to completely come out of it. My doctor who used to treat me for diabetes was surprised to see my results and the energy levels in me. Now I am fully energetic, long-distance eye vision is normal, no tiredness. I can eat sweets once in ~10-15 days still keeping my sugar levels intact.

I came to understand the relationship between weight loss and diabetes. I learned to adopt a healthy eating habit with optimum natural supplementation & physical activity every day. I put my effort & dedication to lose 20kg weight , which in turn helped to maintain my glucose levels. Sometimes shared experiences work better than professional advice. That’s been my learning.
