Migraine - a horror story from childhood...

Dr. Asit Naik is a practicing anesthetist and intensivist heading a critical care unit in Raipur.

As a little boy of class 7, one day while getting ready for school Asit suddenly experienced blurring of vision followed by severe headache. After two hours of struggle with the pain he had severe vomiting after which there was some relief.  The local doctor prescribed some pain killers and antacids.  These gave no respite, instead aggravated his nausea and vomiting.

When Asit joined the Medical school for his MBBS degree he understood that his symptoms were indicative of Migraine.  He started on the treatment for migraine but not much improvement could be felt.  The routine of blurring vision, headache and vomiting at least twice in a month became the new normal.  The suffering was unbearable during the headache bouts and worsened during the vomiting which were anywhere between 10 and 15.  The mucosa in the throat would tear in the process and would take a few days to heal.  These migraine episodes were more frequent during exams or when he ate out or when sleep was disturbed.  Asit learnt to accept and live with the pain.  There were times when he had attended exams with the pain.  With an attitude of ‘Never give up’ Asit moved on.

It was then that his co brother Dr. Sriranjan Rao a Radiologist working in Bhilai told him about the WQ community.  He shared his experience of having overcome his bronchial asthma completely with the help of WQ guided lifestyle changes and natural supplementation.  Without much faith, Asit decided to give it a try.  Within a very short time, he could see a marked improvement in his digestion and he started feeling hungry contrary to the heavy and nauseating feeling that he had felt before. After about 5 months of following the WQ regime he noticed the visible reduction in the frequency of the bouts.  From twice a month to once and in the 6th month none at all.  He also noticed that the intensity of the suffering reduced.  The blurred vision and pain that lasted for more that two hours slowly came down.
